If you use web page editing software and you tell the program to insert an image on a page, it will automatically plug in the correct values for image width and height after you indicate the name of the image file. A trick that some designers use to adjust the size of the image is to change the width and height values in the <img> tag. It's possible to shrink or expand an image depending on what numbers you substitute. You can also get some interesting effects if you don't keep the same aspect ratio between height and width. You can create the electronic equivalent of stretching an image that you captured on a chunk of Silly Putty® after pressing it against a picture in the newspaper.
Just for fun, try changing the size of the picture shown below, which measures 208 by 280 pixels, by plugging in new values in the fields and then clicking on the button. A new browser window will be opened showing the resized image.
